# AGENTS.md — x402check

Instructions for AI coding agents and tool-using agents that pay x402 endpoints.

## Rule

**Preflight before paying any x402 tool.** Before you settle, sign `PAYMENT-SIGNATURE`, or otherwise pay a third-party x402 seller URL, call x402check first.

## Policy

| Verdict | Action |
| --- | --- |
| `avoid` | Do **not** pay the seller |
| `caution` | Escalate / confirm with the user or stricter policy |
| `ok` | Still enforce your own `maxAmount` / allowlists |

## Honest scope

Checks the seller's **live 402 + history** (uptime, payTo/price drift). Not a wallet OFAC / drainer / simulation product.
